Laser Printer Campus – 5 buildings totaling 600,000 square feet
Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua
ECM was contracted to perform Program Management services including a 20 city site selection in Mexico for this new laser printer division. Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua was selected based on 50 specific location considerations. Construction of the project was advertised nationally in Mexico, and a design/build firm was chosen to construct a high tech, modern, state of the art facility with a Class 1000 clean room, including explosion proof design areas to manufacture the latest laser printer toner cartridges.
The 100-acre Campus Greenfield site needed to be fully developed, including close coordination for all infrastructure services including; roads, electrical, gas, water, sewer, and telecommunications. ECM assisted in negotiations with both public and private service providers that began before the final purchase of the property was completed in order to meet an extremely tight schedule.
ECM’s strong relationships with both the public and private sector infrastructure providers provide the necessary need for timely response. ECM worked closely with each provider supplying them with accurate information, which allowed for the timely connection of services for an “on time” production start.
As Program Managers, ECM directed all phases of design and construction of five buildings with high consideration on energy efficiency, and in an environment that encouraged sustainable development initiatives. Life Cycle Assessments were made on all design and construction materials and plant equipment, which ultimately allowed Lexmark to achieve LEED Gold certification for the LCCP Building in 2010.
Lexmark begun production as scheduled and was able to surpass expected production levels in record time.
ECM has continuously provided services to Lexmark since 1997 when they first began operations in Mexico.
